Wednesday, November 02, 2011
The influential Methodist newspaper, the Methodist Recorder, is 150 this year and to celebrate Meg Munn MP recently hosted a reception in the House of Commons. Meg has been chair of the Methodist Parliamentary Fellowship for a number of years, and the group hold regular meetings for Parliamentarians.
The event was attended by people from the world of politics, the Methodist church and newspapers to mark the occasion. Methodist Recorder Managing Editor, Moira Sleight, presented Meg with a souvenir plate and mug produced by Chown China to mark the newspapers anniversary. The Co-operative Banking Group sponsored the occasion and its chair, Rev Paul Flowers, received similar gifts.
“It is wonderful to be celebrating 150 years of the Methodist Recorder. I get to read my copy when travelling between my constituency in Sheffield and Westminster.
As a representative of the Labour and Co-operative Party I am delighted that the Co-Operative Banking group were able to sponsor the event.”
