People in Sheffield city centre observed a two-minute silence on Sunday at 11am as part of the Remembrance commemorations. A large crowd gathered outside City Hall for the annual parade and to remember and honour those who had made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

The parade made its way along Division Street to the war memorial in Barker’s Pool led by cadets representing each of the armed forces. They were followed by standard bearers and then the veterans, those still able marched while some were in wheelchairs because they were too old or infirm to walk. Sheffield Heeley MP Meg Munn was amongst those who watched the ceremony and took the photo as the parade went past.

Meg commented:

“We owe those who gave their lives so much, and it is appropriate that we show our respect for their sacrifice.”
