Dead to the World

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

Meg Munn MP for Sheffield Heeley contributed a photograph of sleeping pigs for the Jessop’s All-Party Parliamentary Photographic Exhibition held in Parliament. She took the photo at the Dales Festival of Food and Drink in Leyburn, where the pigs in spite of the crowds and noise were intent of having a snooze.

The 2012 Dales Festival had around 12,000 visitors over three days who sampled food, watched cookery and farming demonstrations and listened to live music. Festivals like this one are a great way for local communities to come together, and whilst walking around Meg saw what she thought would be a great photo opportunity for the Parliamentary exhibition.

The annual photo exhibition displayed a diverse range of images, and includes photographs taken by Members of both Houses of Parliament. The images let members of the public have a visual insight into politicians working and personal lives.

Meg said:

“I called my photo ‘dead to the world’ because the sleeping pigs looked like nothing would wake them! The festival was a great day out for all the family and I particularly found learning more about the world of farming very interesting, and I tasted some great local produce.”
