The Aegon Team Schools Tennis National Championship

Monday, July 22, 2013

The top 32 schools tennis teams from across Great Britain met to compete in a draw where teams were placed from 1-16 after four days of playing. The weather was superb as the tournament venue at Graves Tennis Centre in Sheffield was bathed in warm sunshine, providing a great setting for some highly competitive tennis matches.

Meg Munn MP visited to watch some of the action and present the trophy and medals for the Boy’s section of the tournament.  The winning team was Reed’s School Boys from Surrey, with the runners up being Millfield School Boys from Somerset.

“It was great to see the national championships being played at Graves Tennis Centre. The facilities are excellent, much improved since I used to play there as a girl. I am working with the Lawn Tennis Association to raise the profile of tennis and get us all interested in and playing.

I really want to encourage Sheffield Schools to get more actively involved in tennis and taking part in this event - I want our schools up there in the final competing with the best.”
