Meg to hold an open advice surgery on a bus

Thursday, May 1, 2014

As part of ‘Catch the Bus Week’ Heeley MP Meg Munn will hold an open advice surgery this Friday 2nd May. Meg encourages constituents to come along and discuss with her the bus services and any other issue they wish.

Meg will hold this advice surgery on a stationary Stagecoach bus based at the car park of The Big Tree pub in Woodseats between 11.30am and 2pm.

This initiative is a joint approach from Meg, Stagecoach Yorkshire and sustainable transport group Greener Journeys. They aim to encourage people to ditch the car for the health, environmental and financial benefits of taking the bus.

Stagecoach Yorkshire is carrying out a programme of promotional activities throughout the week to encourage people to give the bus a try. Included is a chance to sign up to win an IPad, and a chance for one lucky bus passenger to find a golden ticket to win a year’s worth of free bus travel with Stagecoach.

Meg said:

“I am delighted to be supporting ‘Catch the Bus Week’ and am grateful to Stagecoach for letting me borrow one of their buses to meet constituents at my advice surgery.

Public transport is good for the environment, it is cheaper than running a car and helps boost the local economy. I hope that with this campaign more people will decide to ditch their cars and hop on one of our local buses.”

Paul Lynch, managing director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said:

“Catch the Bus Week is a great opportunity for passengers to meet Meg and ask questions and put forward suggestions about bus services so we’re encouraging people to come along and get involved.”
