Meeting Equality South West

Sunday, September 17, 2006

During a recent visit to Cornwall Meg was pleased to meet with representatives of the regions equality network, Equality South West. The region has led the way with this initiative - having begun to establish the network over six years ago. The network saw the value of bringing all the equality strands together, which is expressed through their strap line - “stronger together”.

The network works with a range of partners, such as the Regional Development Agency and local authorities, to promote equality and prevent discrimination. They also provide fact sheets to help organisations working in this area.

Meg was keen to learn from the experience of Equality South West as their approach may have important lessons for the development of the new Commission for Equality and Human Rights.

Meg is pictured with Paul Dunn, Director, Chris Pitura, South West Consultant for The Age and Employment Network, Adrian Robinson, Chair Equality South West Disability Network and Dawn Woods from the South West Government Office.
