The Mayor of Pitcairn Islands

Meg recently met Jay Warren, the Mayor of Pitcairn Islands. He was elected to that position in 2004 in the general election held on the island, the last remaining British dependency in Oceania. The Mayor, a Council Chairman and four Councillors sit on the Island Council. All were elected on a secret, non-partisan ballot (there are no political parties in the territory) by the 35 Pitcairners of voting age. By tradition, statistical details of the vote were not revealed.
