Meg visits Cambodia

Foreign Office Minister Meg Munn is on her first official visit to Cambodia.  She is meeting various government Ministers as well a variety of business and non-governmental organisations working in the country. Discussions included the situation in Burma, the Khmer Rouge Tribunal, the forthcoming national election, the Department for International Development’s budgetary support programme and human rights.  

Meg said:

“I am delighted to visit Cambodia. This visit will strengthen the ties between our two countries and reaffirm the UK’s support for a peaceful and stable Cambodia. It is encouraging to see the development of Cambodia since the terrible genocide and how it is coming to terms with the past; for example by addressing justice through the Khmer Rouge Tribunal. Cambodia is an important partner for the UK, including its membership of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). We will continue our work together on global and regional challenges.”
