Celebrating 25 years of Science Education

Monday, July 12, 2010

Sheffield Heeley MP Meg Munn attended the 25th anniversary of the Centre for Science Education (CSE) and the 5th anniversaries of the Science Learning Centre Yorkshire and the Humber and Women in Science, Engineering and Technology. The event, named ‘5TwentyFive’, took place at the Centre for Science Education at Sheffield Hallam University with Professor Lord Robert Winston as key note speaker.

The CSE is a research and business development unit specialising in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects. The Centre creates, manages and delivers resources, projects and initiatives to support teachers and students at all levels of education.

Meg said:

“I was delighted to have been invited to the celebrations. The centre is doing fantastic work in engaging young peoples with the possibilities in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics areas.

Their catch-phrase is ‘Creativity that works’, which reflects a passionate belief that by inspiring the imagination of young people they will want to obtain qualifications for a career in science.”
