The Big Climate Connection

Friday, November 12, 2010

Sheffield Heeley MP Meg Munn recently met five local constituents to discuss climate change at the Bohemian Café on Chesterfield Road. The meeting was one of hundreds taking place around the country between supporters of the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition and their local Member of Parliament.

They discussed issues about energy security, fuel poverty and energy efficiency. The discussion included how each of the constituents were contributing to improve their local environment, and how concerned they are with the Government’s policies on the environment and climate change. The meeting was organised by Daniel Barrett, who is involved with The Big Climate Connection movement.

Meg commented:

“Climate change is moving at an alarming rate and affects people right now. We need more action to protect the world’s forests as it’s there that important resources are being lost. Local people are forced to sell their land to overseas companies so they have enough money to send their children to school.

I understand the need for us all to contribute toward slowing down and then reversing the negative changes people have on the planet. In my case I have renovated my house to make it more environmentally friendly by installing new windows and loft insulation. We can all do something.”
