Meg training for ‘Race for Life’

Wednesday, May 31, 2006

Meg Munn, Sheffield Heeley MP, joined Lesley Lockwood and colleagues from ‘Activity Sheffield’ for a training session to prepare for this year’s Race for Life.  Meg will join thousands of women taking part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life at the Don Valley Stadium on Sunday 4th June. This year’s race is the tenth anniversary in Sheffield, and organisers hope to raise more than last year’s total of £33 million.

Meg said;

‘I’m delighted to take part in this year’s race. I hope that this year we will get a record total of donations to help Cancer Research UK carry out their excellent work.’

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is the UK’s biggest women-only fundraising event. 2006 promises to be the best year yet, with over 750,000 women expected to take part. Cancer Research UK supports research on all aspects of cancer through the work of over 3,000 scientists, doctors and nurses, all helping to bring about the time when no family is devastated by cancer.
