Handyman - at your service

Monday, September 18, 2006

Sheffield Heeley MP Meg Munn recently visited a handyman initiative on the Lowedges, Batemoor and Jordanthorpe estates which is proving a roaring success. The scheme provides assistance with unblocking drains to light weeding and planting for residents who are over 55, have a disability and live on one of the estates.

Meg remarked:

‘I commend those involved in running this excellent scheme. It not only provides help and assistance, but also offers reassurance to some of the vulnerable and less able members of the community.’

The project is being co-ordinated by the Batemoor & Jordanthorpe Forum and funded by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund. The scheme is proving such as success that it is set to extend into Gleadless Valley and other areas in the city.
