More improvements on the way for our Schools

Monday, November 27, 2006

Sheffield City Council has been successful in winning Government ‘Pathfinder’ investment for further improvements to primary schools. As a Pathfinder authority, Sheffield will receive an additional capital grant of £6.5 million. This means that over the coming months the city will have a key role leading innovative approaches to planning, design and procurement of high quality, sustainable primary school buildings.

Heeley MP Meg Munn spoke of her pleasure at the news:

‘It is great news that Sheffield will have additional investment for our schools. In Heeley constituency we have seen an unprecedented number of schools being rebuilt and refurbished, and I am pleased that this is set to continue. The aim is for local authorities to significantly improve at least half of all primary schools over the coming years so they are fully equipped for 21st century learning.’
