Meg visits Arbourthorne Co-op

Friday, July 13, 2007

As part of Usdaw’s campaign, ‘It’s Your Store... Respect It’, Labour and Co-operative MP Meg Munn visited the Co-operative supermarket on Northern Avenue in Arbourthorne. Whilst there Duty Manager Stephen Cowley discussed a number of issues with Meg, including: the benefits of extra security in the area and the general improvements spearheaded by local Councillor John Robson.

Meg said:

“I was very pleased to hear about the measures that United Co-operatives take to support their hard working staff. They clearly use best practice when it comes to tackling crime. I am also delighted to give my backing to Usdaw’s important campaign.”

United Co-operatives Area Manager Wayne Beedan, who accompanied Meg on her visit said:

“We are absolutely delighted that our local MP has come to our store to hear about our commitment to tackling store crime. United Co-operatives is a responsible employer and we ensure our staff are fully supported as they go about their daily work.”

Local Councillor John Robson has been heavily involved with improvements to the look of the area, such as putting up hanging baskets and lights at Christmas, for which the Co-operative store makes the biggest contribution. He was also involved with the recent ‘Arbourthorne action week’, which received £7000 from the area panel budget that he chairs.
