Local Mosque raise Pakistan worries

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

Members of the Makki Mosque in Heeley constituency recently met local MP Meg Munn to discuss the current situation in Pakistan. They expressed to Meg the worries in their families and community with the current situation in Pakistan. Although Pakistan isn’t part of Meg’s Ministerial portfolio that is held by Lord Malloch-Brown she does answer questions about the country in the Commons.

Meg said:

‘The fragile and tense situation in Pakistan is cause for concern to many around the world. I wanted to hear the views and worries from members of the mosque and I reassured them that Britain has urged President Musharaf to hold fair and free democratic elections in January as the constitution dictates.’

Up to date information on the situation in Pakistan is available from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website www.fco.gov.uk
