Congratulating safer community champion

Monday, June 16, 2008

Heeley MP Meg Munn was pleased to be able to congratulate Patrick Meleady for receiving a letter of commendation by Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Paul Broadbent for ‘the professional and personal effort he has shown over the last 15 years to help make Sheffield a safer place.’

Patrick is a well known and respected member of Sheffield City Council’s Neighbourhoods team, who has worked tirelessly in the Sheffield 8 area in recent years.

Meg said of Patrick:

‘I have worked with Patrick since I was elected in 2001. Patrick’s personal drive and determination has been instrumental in shaping and developing the neighbourhood management agenda in Sheffield. His commendation is well deserved as he has worked hard to engage, motivate and empower communities in my constituency so they can better work with the police and other statutory bodies.’

Paul Broadbent said of Patrick:

’ Patrick has really made a difference in Sheffield working hard for local communities and helping police officers better understand communities needs and concerns. Having identified the problem he goes on to help find the solution, engaging local people, statutory organisations and voluntary agencies in this process.’
