Welcoming the new Sheffield College Boss

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Heeley MP Meg Munn recently met with Heather McDonald, the new Chief Executive of Sheffield College. Her previous job was as Principal with Wakefield College. This new role sees her take responsibility for The Sheffield College’s federation of three colleges: Castle, Hillsborough and Norton comprising 26,000 learners.

Meg and Heather discussed the re-build of the Castle College Campus, which is located in Heeley constituency, which also includes Norton College Campus. She raised a number of concerns about the current state of the building at Norton, as well as future liaison with local secondary schools.

Heather McDonald has 27 years’ experience in further education at colleges, sixth forms, and local authority advisory and inspection services. She joined Wakefield College in 1993 as Vice-Principal and was Principal since 1998. The college has 10,500 learners. Under Heather’s leadership, Wakefield College has become one of the first colleges nationally to achieve a new employer engagement standard, developing a culture that celebrates excellence and built strong teams.
