The new Norfolk Park Health Centre

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Meg recently held a site meeting to learn more about the proposed new health centre for Norfolk Park. It will be built at the junction of Park Grange Road and Beldon Road as a replacement for the existing Norfolk Park medical centre. The new centre will include GPs, physiotherapy, community nursing and a pharmacy, as well as the space to perform minor procedures avoiding the need to go to hospital.

Meg said:

"I am delighted to see progress being made on these vital community facilities for Norfolk Park. The development of the area has taken some years, with the provision of state of the art health facilities and shops community life will begin to thrive again."

The new building will include a number of energy saving features and will make the most of the views from the site which looks right across the city. A planning application will be submitted shortly for the health centre and it is anticipated that construction will start in 2010 with the building open to the public in 2011. Meg also heard about the plans to develop the lower part of the site, which will include some housing but also shops and community facilities.
