Plans for Graves Tennis and Leisure Centre
Wednesday, March 13, 2013
Recently local MP Meg Munn met Mark Cowan, General Manager, and Lorenzo Clark from Sheffield International Venues to talk about the proposed development of Graves Leisure Centre. Plans include extending the indoor tennis courts, a new swimming pool and fitness centre and new outdoor football pitches.
This new development includes facilities that will be built as part of the legacy from the 2012 Olympics. The Sheffield headquarters of the prestigious National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine will be based at the centre with its focus being improving the health and fitness of the population of Sheffield. Sheffield International Venues are also bidding for an iconic facilities grant from Sport England.
Meg said:
"This is a very exciting time for Graves with great new facilities promised and the possibility of more development. It has already been designated as the regional hub for disability tennis and over the next few years I am sure it will become a centre providing sports facilities and support for those with significant health problems through to elite athletes."
