New community café gets Meg’s seal of approval

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Local MP Meg Munn gave a new community café in Arbourthorne the thumbs up when she called in for lunch.  She visited the Tea-Junction café at The Spires Centre on East Bank Road and met local staff and centre manager Alistair Beattie to find out how their new venture into catering was going. This is the second Tea-Junction café in the local area, with another community café based at The Beacon centre on Arbourthorne Road.

Meg said:

“The Tea-Junction café has lots of choice and is really friendly and welcoming.  It’s been created by local people for local people and is perfect for meeting up with friends or just relaxing and enjoying a quiet drink.

I was pleased to learn that the café is offering apprenticeships and training for local people, to give them experience of the catering industry.  I will certainly be calling in again and I wish them every success with their new venture.”

The Tea-Junction café, The Spires Centre, 600 East Bank Road, is open Mondays 9am-4pm, Tuesdays 9am-3pm, Thursdays 12noon-4pm and Fridays 9am-4pm. To find out more, or to ask about volunteering opportunities, phone 0114 241 6786.
