Developing ‘social enterprise’ ideas for local farm

Monday, June 3, 2013

Local MP Meg Munn recently met Chris Fleming, a student from the University of Sheffield, who is working on ideas with colleagues that they hope could lead to a social enterprise linked to Heeley City Farm. Chris is taking part in a project to develop ‘enterprise skills’, for the university’s ‘Making Ideas Happen’ module.

As Patron of the Farm, Meg was happy to meet Chris to discuss his ideas for future work. They discussed the team’s ideas to develop a project linked to local food production and sales to students.  Whilst the project is currently a theoretical one, Chris and his fellow students hope to present their ideas to Heeley City Farm as a plan which may lead to a future enterprise.

Meg said:

“It was great to meet Chris and to find out about the ideas that are being developed through the university’s ‘Making Ideas Happen’ course.  Whilst we don’t yet know if these ideas will be put into practice, it is good to see the university working with community-based organisations like Heeley City Farm to generate ideas about social enterprise initiatives which may prove beneficial.”
