Growing fruit and veg at Norfolk Park

Tuesday, October 1, 2013

Local MP Meg Munn recently attended a horticultural session organised by Heeley City Farm at Norfolk Heritage Park Community Garden. The sessions are run on a weekly basis and offer local residents the opportunity to learn about all aspects of fruit and vegetable growing.

Meg was really impressed with the contribution from the local community as a number of people volunteer to work at the Garden. Nick Horne, who runs the sessions, told Meg how people enjoy seeing the development of a community garden from its early beginnings, which they can take care of and watch grow. The Garden also has also growing links with other local organisations, meaning that the food produced is kept in the local area.

Meg said:

“There was a fantastic variety of fruit and vegetables on show at the Community Garden and it was great to see a number of people giving up their time to help and showing how passionate they are about the nurturing and growth of a shared community space.”

Heeley City Farm runs weekly horticultural sessions in Norfolk Heritage Park Community Garden, every Thursday from 10.30am to 4.00pm. For more details contact Nick Horne on 07941182028
