Roving in Woodseats

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Local MP Meg Munn recently held a roving surgery in Woodseats covering Broxholme, Aisthorpe, Nettleham and Newlyn Roads. Meg was joined by local campaigner Bob Pemberton as they listened to the comments and concerns of local residents.

A couple told Meg about their financial struggles following the changes to Child Benefit in 2012, which they also argued were unfair. Meg agreed to raise this issue with the relevant government minister, and explained that the Labour party raised concerns about this at the time the changes were introduced.

Another constituent who is a teacher explained their concern about the OFSTED inspection process, meaning their focus is not on the needs of children. Meg will write to the government over this issue, and she also agreed to raise the issue with OFSTED directly.

A common problem is the work being done as part of the highway maintenance ‘Streets Ahead’ project, with a number of residents complaining of incomplete works. Meg reassured people that the project will ultimately bring benefits to the area as said she will ensure that any individual issues are addressed by the contractors.

Meg said:

“As always a variety of issues came up from this week’s roving surgery. I will be following up these with the government, local council and others. The time I get to spend out and about in the constituency is one of the best parts of being a Member of Parliament and I enjoyed meeting some of the residents in Woodseats.”

Meg holds roving surgeries across each ward of the constituency on a regular basis; keep an eye out for her leaflet coming through your door if you have any issues you think she might be able to help with. Surgeries can also be booked by contacting her office.
