Improvements for Woodland View

Thursday, June 26, 2014

Woodland View residential nursing home is set for a range of improvements as part of a whole service review into the quality and standard of care provided at the specialist dementia home.

Heeley MP Meg Munn recently visited Woodland View to meet Michelle Fearon, Director of Service, and Marion Colohan, Operations Manager, for an update on the situation at the home. They have already taken a number of steps towards improvement, including the establishment of a Woodland View Steering Group and the recruitment of additional qualified and support staff. Meg has requested to be kept updated with progress.

Meg’s visit coincided with Dementia Awareness Week. As part of her ongoing efforts to improve local Alzheimer’s support services, she will be leading a campaign over the summer to make Heeley, Woodseats and Meersbrook ‘dementia friendly’ communities.

Meg said:

“It was good to visit Woodland View and get clarity about future plans. Due to a funding issue the home almost faced closure three years ago, so it is reassuring to see that they are taking steps to ensure it provides the best quality care to its residents.

I will be keeping an eye on this situation and I look forward to seeing the positive results of the service review over the coming months.”
